El 30 de enero alcanzamos la costa oceánica, siguiendo un intrincado laberinto de canales. Luego de cruzar los canales Messier y Fallos y dejar atrás la Isla Lynch, recalamos en la Isla Torpedo, donde encontramos varias colonias de pingüinos que habían en bosques y un yate naufragado. Desde Torpedo avanzamos hacia el norte, por la costa oeste de la Isla Campana, explorando dos bahías que enfrentan el océano.
Cualquier descripción sería insuficiente para retratar la magnificencia de los sitios que hemos visitado en esta costa. El lugar donde nos encontramos ahora, es una gran bahía formada por dos promontorios montañosos y cercada por furiosas rompientes. Llegamos hasta acá navegando sobre grandes olas, con viento, lluvia y poca visibilidad. La niebla daba un aspecto lúgubre y misterioso al hervidero de rompientes entre las que pasamos para alcanzar este sitio. Mañana continuamos hacia la boca norte del Canal Fallos.
